Pennsylvania-based Pyramid Healthcare this week announced a planned expansion into Maryland with an agreement to purchase WaldenSierra, which provides residential, outpatient and recovery support services in the state. Pyramid Healthcare currently operates around 80 behavioral health facilities and six autism schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and North Carolina.

According to a news release from Pyramid Healthcare, Walden officials see their relationship with Pyramid as increasing their technical and clinical capabilities to accelerate growth in service delivery, an important factor given a high demand for services resulting from the opioid epidemic.

“We are excited about our relationship with Walden,” said Pyramid Healthcare CEO Jonathan Wolf. “They have a long history of providing quality, integrated, compassionate treatment in Maryland.”
