Buyer: Five Star Urgent Care
Seller: Industrial Medical Associates
Sector: Urgent Care Centers
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Five Star Urgent Care, a rapidly growing urgent care chain in Onondaga County, has acquired Industrial Medical Associates, an occupational health services practice that has three offices in the Syracuse area. Dr. John Radford, Five Star founder and CEO, said the acquisition is a natural extension of Five Star’s commitment to provide consumers with affordable care when they need it.
Prior to the acquisition, Five Star provided occupational medicine services at its six urgent care facilities in Western and Central New York. Five Star will keep Industrial Medical Associates offices open. IMA has offices on Canal Street and Teall Avenue in Syrause and Lawrence Road East in North Syracuse.
IMA has served Central New York employers for more than 30 years. It provides pre-employment physicals, return-to-work screenings, alcohol and drug testing, physical therapy and other services. Five Star has three urgent care centers in the Syracuse area and plans to open a fourth next month in Clay.
Urgent care centers treat non-emergency illnesses like ear aches and sprains, not life-threatening conditions like heart attacks. They provide walk-in care for illnesses and injuries that need immediate attention, but don’t rise to the level of an emergency.
